I was a Production Assistant at the BBC in London. When I left to have a family I began to paint and found that my naturally naïve style was popular. I joined the Molesey Art Society in the 1970's. My first solo exhibition was in London in 1981. I moved to Cornwall in 1996 and now run The Joel Gallery in Mousehole with my family.
I love to paint life story commissions for people. These can take three months to complete and involve designing a complete painting using ideas from photographs and memories from the clients.
I always paint my white haired Mum and a dog in every painting, as it was my Mum who encouraged me always to be creative and follow my dream.
